Starlight Cruise
Starlight Cruise is a 4-star, mid-range ship operated by Oriental Sails Company (in service since 2012), with 32 cabins over three decks. Highlights include a 350m² sundeck with a 4-hole mini-golf course, an outdoor bar, a spa, a wine cellar, a library and a gym. Deluxe and Executive cabins are 22m² with large bay windows (Executives add an in-cabin jacuzzi), while the two 50m² Suite Balconies on deck 3 have a private balcony and jacuzzi. It sails the classic core - Sung Sot Cave, Titop Island and Luon Cave.
Scored by our Halong cruise team, who spend their season on these waters. We rate each boat the way a returning guest would - cabins, dining, crew, itinerary and value - not the way a listing does.
Starlight is one of the better-value 4-stars on the water: for roughly $140 a head, most of its 32 cabins come with an in-cabin jacuzzi, and the 350m2 sundeck throws in mini-golf, a spa and a wine cellar you rarely see at this price. Two caveats to weigh. It has been in service since 2012 and reviewers note a slightly worn, firm ride, and despite the Lan Ha billing the route actually runs the busy Halong core (Sung Sot, Titop, Luon Cave) rather than the quieter Lan Ha channels. Standard cabins are a modest 22m2 with bay windows only; couples wanting a real balcony must book one of just two Suite Balconies. Rates are indicative and need confirming before you commit.

Yes - at around $140 per person for a 2D1N, Starlight is a mid-range 4-star with real extras: an in-cabin or deck jacuzzi, a 350m² sundeck with a 4-hole mini-golf course, a spa, wine cellar and library. It sails the classic core - Sung Sot Cave, Titop Island and Luon Cave
It's an older ship (in service since 2012) and some reviewers note a slightly worn look and firm ride, but cabins are well-kept 22m² rooms with bay windows, and the Suite Balcony (50m², private balcony + jacuzzi) is a real step up for couples. Transfers to/from Halong are booked separately
