Heritage Line Ylang Cruise
Heritage Line Ylang is the newest member of the Heritage Line fleet, in operation since August 2019, cruising Cat Ba and Lan Ha Bay. It is an all-suite boat of just 10 spacious cabins decorated in a luxurious French-colonial style blended with Asian boutique touches, with hand-crafted paintings and artwork by local artisans, three white sails and light wooden interiors. Onboard are a library lounge, a wellness studio, an expansive spa and a terrace deck with a pool - a slow, high-end voyage.
Scored by our Halong cruise team, who spend their season on these waters. We rate each boat the way a returning guest would - cabins, dining, crew, itinerary and value - not the way a listing does.
One of the few boats where the entry-level cabin is already a 40 square-metre balcony suite with a bathtub, and it sails the calmer Lan Ha side rather than the busy main Halong channel. Ten suites only, an expansive spa, a terrace pool and a genuinely slow two-night rhythm make it a strong couples' pick. Two honest caveats: every suite is built for two guests, so there is no real family room, and the two front Regency suites carry a mandatory US$50-per-person surcharge. It is a three-tier junk with stairs and no lift, and note the pricing here is indicative.

Ylang is an all-suite, ultra-luxury Heritage Line boat (French-colonial design, only 10 suites of 40-53m²). The rate is for a slower 3-day/2-night voyage covering Cat Ba National Park, Viet Hai Village and Ao Ech, with spa, tea-tasting and singing-bowl meditation onboard. Note: the two front Regency Suites carry a mandatory US$50/person surcharge
Children under 5 sharing with parents are free, and one child 5-under-11 can share a cabin with up to 2 adults (a reduction applies; extra bed is US$20 for under-12). But every cabin is a 2-guest suite - there's no dedicated family room - so it fits couples and small families better than larger groups
