Catherine Cruise
Catherine Cruise is a modern 5-star Indochine-styled cruise on Halong Bay - 90m long, 5 decks, up to 117 guests. High-class touches include a 4-season infinity pool, a Himalaya salt-rock sauna, a spa, an elevator, mini-golf, karaoke rooms and a kids' corner. It runs the classic Halong icons: Sung Sot Cave, Titop Island and Luon Cave.
Scored by our Halong cruise team, who spend their season on these waters. We rate each boat the way a returning guest would - cabins, dining, crew, itinerary and value - not the way a listing does.
Catherine gets the hardware right: the smallest cabin is a genuine 40m2 suite with a private balcony and a real bathtub, and the top-deck Grand and 200m2 Villa President suites are among the largest afloat in the bay. The infinity pool, salt-rock sauna and elevator make it comfortable and easy to get around, and at roughly $207 a guest it is honest value for a true five-star. The catch is scale and setting: at 117 guests on the busy main channel past Sung Sot and Titop, it never feels as intimate as a small junk, so book a higher deck or a Royal suite if privacy matters to you.

Very much so - every cabin on Catherine is a 40m² suite with a private balcony and a bathtub, and the Royal, Grand and Villa President suites step up to a jacuzzi with a private terrace or sundeck. Dinner is a fine-dining set menu at the Ambrosia Restaurant, and the 4-season infinity pool and salt-rock sauna are made for slow afternoons. One honest note: this is a big, lively ship (117 guests, with a kids' corner and karaoke), so it suits couples who want comfort and facilities more than a hushed little boutique junk
It's a large 5-star ship, so expect more guests than a boutique junk - but you get an elevator, a 4-season infinity pool, spa, a Himalaya salt-rock sauna, a kids' corner and the classic Halong icons (Sung Sot Cave, Titop Island). For more space and privacy, pick a higher-deck Premier or a Royal/Grand Suite
Very - there's a kids' corner and play area, triple and connecting cabins, karaoke rooms, mini-golf and a pool, and an elevator that makes moving around easy. A child under 5 sails free sharing with parents
