Dragon Legend Cruise
Launched in 2014, Dragon Legend is one of the few 5-star cruises on the quiet Bai Tu Long Bay, run by Indochina Junk. A steel-hulled junk with traditional Vietnamese handcrafted décor across 4 decks, it pairs opulence with authentic charm - private bathtubs in every cabin, a mineral-seawater swimming pool, a spa and a spacious sundeck for a route that stays well off the crowds.
Scored by our Halong cruise team, who spend their season on these waters. We rate each boat the way a returning guest would - cabins, dining, crew, itinerary and value - not the way a listing does.
Dragon Legend is one of the rare Bai Tu Long junks with a genuine mineral-seawater pool and an onboard spa, and the private bathtub in every cabin plus the crowd-free route make it a strong pick at around $200 per guest. Just know it runs a single Deluxe category, so there is no suite to trade up to and no connecting rooms for larger families, and the cabins have sea-view windows rather than private balconies. The 2014 build still holds up well, but this is classic handcrafted wooden-junk character rather than a sleek modern yacht.

If you want fewer crowds, yes - Dragon Legend is one of the few 5-star boats on Bai Tu Long, visiting the quiet Thien Canh Son Cave, Hon Co Island and the Vung Vieng fishing village. You trade the famous Halong postcard stops for a calmer, more authentic route
The boat runs a single Deluxe Cabin category (26.5m², bathtub, sea-view windows) across 24 rooms, so there's no cabin ladder to climb - what you're paying for is the 5-star boat itself, the pool and spa, and the off-the-beaten-track route
