Amanda Cruise
A budget steel ship launched in 2022 around Halong Bay, styled after European cruises with classic-modern interiors. Four decks and 25 cabins across eight categories (Deluxe up to Royal, including triple and connecting rooms), two spa rooms and a large sundeck. Known for its sundeck Gala dinner, free herbal foot baths, bamboo dancing and the "Footsteps of Heritage" traditional fashion show.
Scored by our Halong cruise team, who spend their season on these waters. We rate each boat the way a returning guest would - cabins, dining, crew, itinerary and value - not the way a listing does.
Amanda is one of the smarter budget picks on Halong's core route: a 2022 steel ship, not an aged wooden junk, with an unusually wide cabin range from compact 20m2 doubles up to 60m2 connecting suites that genuinely suit families. The Senior and Royal Suites add private balconies and bathtubs, and the sundeck Gala dinner plus complimentary honeymoon setup punch above the roughly $118-per-guest price. The honest caveats: it sails the busy central channel rather than the quieter Lan Ha or Bai Tu Long waters, there is no lift across its four decks, and kayaking is charged as a paid extra rather than included.

Amanda has the widest cabin range here: triple cabins for 3 plus Connecting Junior (50m²) and Connecting Senior (60m²) suites for 4. Children under 5 are free (max 1 per cabin); 5-10 sharing is charged per the tariff. The Gala dinner and cultural fashion show are a hit with families
Yes - it's a newer steel ship, not old wood. The Senior Suite (35m², private balcony + bathtub) and the 60m² Amanda Royal Suite (balcony, bathtub, sofa) are genuinely couple-worthy, and honeymoon/anniversary room setups are complimentary. Note kayaking is charged as an optional extra here
